The virtual seminar will be held from 12:30 - 2 p.m. (ET)
Negotiations to address proliferation concerns about Iran’s nuclear program by reviving the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) have reached a critical point and may succeed or fail in the coming days. This talk will look at the struggle over the JCPOA since it was agreed, the US withdrawal in 2018 by the Trump Administration, Iran’s resulting moves away from full compliance with its obligations, and the efforts since 2021 by the Biden Administration together with the UK, Russia, Germany, France, the European Union, China, and Iran to restore the deal. It will outline the key remaining issues in this the possibly last stage of the nuclear talks for Iran and the US, as well as the role of Israel, and Arab states in the Middle East, Russia, China and the European states, the risks of escalation if the talks fail and the prospects for the Middle East if the JCPOA is restored.
